Helen Stephenson's West End Lights Pictures, November 25th, 2006

This page starts with a set of pictures which are neither of Christmas lights, nor were they taken in either Oxford Street or Regent Street, but just around the corner from Oxford Street in Tottenham Court Road, where the Dominion Theatre has an interesting sign outside.

The first two pictures were taken without any form of camera support. Then we went and looked in some nearby shops and came back when there was a little less light. The middle picture was taken braced against Stephen's shoulder and is heavily sharpened to compensate for some camera movement which still occurred. Also, Stephen noticed that the figure on the Dominion Theatre was not entirely stationary! The two pictures on the right were taken using my tripod.

What can I say about the next set of pictures, apart from "they're pictures of Christmas lights in Oxford Street!"

We had quite a distance further to walk along Oxford Street once I'd finished taking pictures. The closer we got to Oxford Circus, the busier it became, so I think I did well to indulge in my picture taking activities towards the Tottenham Court Road end of Oxford Street.

We did get to Oxford Circus, where I had a look around the corner into Regent Street and discovered that the lights were up there, too. The Regent Street lights relied heavily on dynamic displays, and would have been better recorded with a movie camera, but I took a few stills which should give you an idea of what they looked like.
