The cottage where we spent our week in Yorkshire was part of a barn conversion, and our cottage was formerly the cow byre. Some of the windows were formerly doors, but that was about the only evidence of its origins. It was certainly far too nice inside now to allow cows into it.
These pictures were captured using a Pentax *ist DS digital SLR camera.

Here is our cottage on the left. It was formerly the cow byre on the end of the barn. The whole barn is massive, and the owners of the cottage live in the rest of it, seen here on the right. |

Here are two more views. The one on the left shows the main barn, while the one on the right shows our cottage. We only had the half on the right, but that was plenty for the two of us for the week. |

On entering the cottage, you step straight into the living room, from where you can see through to the kitchen. We often drew the curtain across when not using the kitchen, as it made the living room very cosy for our October evenings. |

The kitchen was equipped with stove, washing machine and fridge-freezer. We didn't need to use the washing machine, but if you were on a walking holiday, it could be a good appliance to have access to. The door to the right of the arch from the living room to the kitchen conceals a toilet. |

Doing a twirl around the living room, there's another sofa, a working fireplace, a TV and video and a table for two. Our landlady kindly left it set with little pots of jam for our first breakfast. The stairs behind the 2-seater sofa probably led up to a loft storage area, but that was not included in the let. |

Step through the door by the table for two, and you're in the bedroom. Most of the bedroom floor is raised above the level in the living room and a set of railings protects the step. |

The bed was a real work of art with a drape at its head (which concealed a door through into the rest of the property) and a beautifully embroidered duvet cover which made me think of my friends who enjoy quilting. |

The door by the head of the bed conceals an ensuite shower room, while there is a dressing area near the foot of the bed. We hung up clothes on the clothing rail in there, but mostly used that area as a place to set the laptop up. |
