Friday June 23rd |

I took the camera into the office in the hopes of seeing the monkeys, but it was too hot for them and they didn’t show up. The monsoon is due any time now and it will become cooler and then the monkeys will be more likely to show up. During the afternoon, I spent an hour struggling with a change control task that should have only taken a fraction of that time. I was filling in for a colleague in London who was on holiday. Fortunately I managed to find what was holding me up in Thenon (the change control system) before I said any rude words to it that my Indian colleagues probably shouldn’t be hearing. However, I think that some less than polite words in English are in nearly as common usage in India as in countries where English is the first language. I deviated from my planned session with Neha and Chandan and instead I did some work that had cropped up and they watched what I did. I think they came to the conclusion that they still have a lot to learn about IRIS! They certainly found out a thing or two about how to follow an evidence trail as we looked at something I’d run earlier in the day for the project in London. It hadn’t all gone according to plan and they thought that I was going to run it again and trace it, but discovered that I’d saved the evidence that morning and just needed to sift through it. I think they learned something. They’re generally pretty clued up, and I think that in some areas, they can probably tell me a thing or two, so it was nice to be able to show them something that they didn’t know about. I was tired when I got back to the hotel and ended up snacking from the stocks in the mini bar instead of going down to eat, but I still ended up late to bed because I stayed up until I thought Stephen would be inside to answer the phone and spoke to him before going to bed. I've still got some photos of the hotel left to show you: somehow I've managed to take you through nearly a week without showing you any pictures of the front entrance of the Trident Hilton. In keeping with the whole theme of the hotel, there is water out the front. At night, they light gas jets, but I never managed to record that. It looks pretty good anyway. There's not really much more I can say about it, except that it looks like I took all the pictures from one spot, as they all face the same way. I hope you can enjoy them anyway. |
