Ocean Ady is a special offshore unit, and when she visited the Upper Pool of London, she was carrying part of a wind turbine. She raised her onboard crane during her stay.
Some of these pictures were captured with an Olympus Camedia C-1400XL digital camera; while others were captured on 35mm film and then scanned using a CanoScan FS2710 film scanner.

Most of these pictures were taken one grey November morning in 2004 as I was on my way to work. I must have caught a slightlier earlier train than was often the case, as these pictures are evidence of a trail which leads across London Bridge, and then down the stairs onto the Thames Path, which I followed all the way along to Tower Bridge, clicking away on the Olympus digital camera as I went. |

As well as the digital camera, with which I ran off all those quick shots on my way into the office, that day I was also carrying a 35mm film SLR loaded with slide film, and on my way home from the office when I had a bit more time, I got it out and took this after-dark picture. |

The unusual artefact in the sky is not a UFO. There were laser shows playing in London that night (and in fact almost every night in the run-up to Christmas) and I believe that I caught a focal point where the light beams met. It wasn't something that you would have seen exactly like that with a naked eye: it was because this was a long exposure that I ended up with this phenomenon on my film. I'd better not say what I think it looks like though! |
