Friday June 30th |

This was a somewhat unusual day, as there was a Global Technology Day – Global within Xchanging, that is! As India is four and a half hours ahead of the UK during the summer, we worked a normal morning in India, and then went to a hotel called The Bristol, where they had a big conference room set up for us to participate in the Global Technology Day. We had video cameras on us so that people in other locations could see us, and we could see them as well. Once the combined section of the day was over, we divided up into groups to discuss the material which had been presented and then reconvened to share our musings. It was getting quite late by the time we finished. It was also the quarter end party that evening, so we went straight from our discussion session to the party, which was also held in The Bristol. There was a disco, which was really too loud, but much to my surprise, I didn’t lack for partners on the dance floor. I also noticed that it’s OK to dance with a member of the same sex. It wasn’t close dancing, and there were two extremely good male dancers there and they danced together quite a bit. The quality of these pictures is a bit variable. Photographing fair haired people against a dark background works, but doing the same with dark haired people just doesn't give good results! |

The picture on the left of Gagan, Ajay and Rajnish got blasted with too much flash. The picture on the right of me with Kinshuk, Munish, Ajay and Rajnish is better technically, but my eyes appear to be closed. |

As well as the disco, there was food, and several of us left the disco and ate our dinner together. It was the first time I’d seen cauliflower in India, and I remarked upon it, and was told that cauliflower is actually quite common. I must have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. |
